is located in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. In 2003 a Dutch couple Ludy Bookelmann and Anja Verstegen bought and renovated an original Swiss Chalet in Ascharina, St Antönien, Graubünden, not far from the Austrian border. The former farmhouse at 1200 meter, lies at the foot of the Rätikon mountain range and has been transformed into a modern, comfortable and characterful inn offering the cosy atmosphere of a mountain lodge. The chalet provides accommodation for up to 15 guests in three guest rooms including a communal area. Sadly, Ludy lost his life in an avalanche in 2008 leaving behind Anja and their two young daughters. Anja continued to run Herberge Ascharina by herself.
A new startSince 2010 John Swinkels has joined forces, trading his job in The Netherlands for a future in the Swiss mountains alongside Anja. Together they now run Herberge Ascharina and share family responsibilities and by now two young boys are added to the family.
Anja, John and their kids hope to welcome you soon in Herberge Ascharina.
